Safran Vectronix’s close to 30 years of experience in designing and manufacturing laser rangefinders for both civilian and military applications have culminated in their newest product: the TERRAPIN X. The release of the TERRAPIN X has reset industry standards when it comes to compact, affordable, and durable laser rangefinders.

The TERRAPIN X has maximum range finding capabilities of 3280 yards, which roughly works out to 1.86 miles! Even at distances past 2000 meters (2187 yd.) the TERRAPIN X remains highly accurate with a deviation of only ± 5 meters (5.46 yd.). One of the biggest challenges for laser rangefinders is measuring small targets reliably. The TERRAPIN X excels at this because of its small beam divergence of only 1.2 x .5 mrad. The internal sensors of the TERRAPIN X measure slope and azimuth to calculate the equivalent horizontal range to a target. Even at extreme distances and uneven terrains you can therefore feel secure in taking that perfect shot. The scan mode of the TERRAPIN X delivers a new measurement result every half second – a perfect feature for measuring multiple targets in quick succession.

The precision optics of the TERRAPIN X offer unmatched 8x magnification for extreme range measurements with perfect color correction and maximum contrast. With its 28mm objective lens diameter the TERRAPIN X gathers more light than any other compact rangefinder in its class ensuring bright images even in twilight conditions.

Unlike many of its competitors in the compact rangefinder market, the TERRAPIN X has been designed to be incredible rugged and reliable. The housing of the TERRAPIN X is made from Ryton®, a material designed to rigidly hold electronic components as well as protect them from extreme temperatures and corrosive materials. Furthermore, the entire outer shell of the rangefinder is covered with a thick, grippy and shock resistant rubber armoring. Extra protection for the laser, battery and objective lens is ensured by deeply recessing the components into the body of the TERRAPIN X. The TERRAPIN X is IP 67 certified and therefore guarantees protection in water up to a depth of 1 meter (or 3.3 feet) for up to 30 minutes. When it comes to durability, Safran Vectronix has truly set the standard with the TERRAPIN X.
