Steiner has a long history of manufacturing top of the line binoculars for hunters, birders and nature lovers. Karl Steiner founded Steiner in 1947, and though the post war economy was harsh in Germany at the time, the quality of his work enable the optics company to grow from a one man operation to a factory with over 50 employees in less than 6 years. From the beginning, the Steiner-Optik company was primarily a binocular manufacturer, and it didn't take very long for their glass to become the standard by which other binoculars would be measured. Steiner Optics was always a family company, and in 1973 Karl retired and let his son Carl take over the business. Carl inherited his father's innovative spirit and immediately began developing new technologies and lines of Steiner Optic binoculars, including the Predator series, which incorporates a special lens to help give contrast to animals against a wooded background. These innovations, along with the lightweight but durable design of all Steiner optics has made them a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts throughout the world for over 60 years.
