It will completely depend on the size of the object, but I highly doubt it would provide a clear or quality image. I do not think it would be appropriate for those types of distances as that is almost 5 miles.

I bought mine used for a decent price. They weight almost 10 lbs soo you need a husky tripod. Would have preferred central focus instead of individual. Nice carrying case.
